Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a poor widow and her only son, Jack.
They were so poor that their only possession was a cow named Milky. One day, Milky stopped giving milk, and the widow told Jack to take the cow to the market and sell it. Jack set off with Milky, but on his way, he met a strange old man who offered him five magic beans in exchange for the cow. Jack, believing in the old man’s words, accepted the beans and returned home.
When Jack arrived home, his mother was furious that he had traded their only cow for worthless beans. In her anger, she threw the beans out of the window. That night, while they slept, the beans grew into a massive beanstalk that stretched high into the clouds.
The next morning, Jack awoke to find the gigantic beanstalk.
Without hesitation, he began to climb. He climbed and climbed until he reached the top, where he found a magical land in the clouds.
In the distance, he saw a grand castle.
Curious, Jack approached the castle and knocked on the door. A giant woman opened the door and, seeing that Jack was just a small boy, she took pity on him and gave him something to eat.
However, she warned him that her husband, the giant, was a cruel and greedy man who had stolen many treasures and harmed many people. She told Jack that her husband had no mercy and would eat him if he found him.
Suddenly, the ground shook as the giant returned home. The giant woman hid Jack inside a cupboard. The giant entered, sniffing the air and bellowing, "Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman! Be he alive or be he dead, I'll grind his bones to make my bread!"
His wife calmed him, saying he was imagining things. The giant sat down and brought out a hen and a harp. The hen laid golden eggs, and the harp played beautiful music by itself. Jack realized that these treasures must have been stolen by the giant from other innocent people.
After a while, the giant fell asleep. When the giant was fast asleep, the giant's wife brought Jack out of the cupboard. She had been touched by Jack’s kindness and humility and decided to help him. She explained that the hen that laid golden eggs could help him and his mother live a better life. She also told Jack that the harp was magical and had once belonged to a good king before the giant stole it. She gifted the hen and the harp to Jack, telling him to take them and leave quickly before the giant woke up.
Jack thanked her and, with the hen and the harp in his arms, hurried down the beanstalk.
As Jack descended the beanstalk, the harp's music accidentally woke the giant. Furious, the giant chased Jack down the beanstalk. Jack climbed down as fast as possible, with the giant hot on his heels.
As soon as Jack reached the ground, he called for his mother to bring him an axe. With a mighty swing, Jack chopped the beanstalk, causing it to topple over. The giant, who was halfway down, fell and was never seen again. The villagers, who had long feared the giant, rejoiced at the news.
