Shapes

Shapes are basic geometric figures that can be described by their properties such as size, color, and position. Some common examples of shapes include:

Circles

: A shape with a curved line that forms a closed loop, with all points on the loop the same distance from the center. Examples of circles include: a coin, a wheel, a pizza.

Squares

: A shape with four straight sides that are equal in length and four right angles. Examples of squares include: a playing card, a chessboard square, a brick.

Triangles

: A shape with three straight sides. There are different types of triangles such as equilateral, isosceles and scalene. Examples of triangles include: a slice of pizza, a traffic sign, a tent.

Rectangles

: A shape with four straight sides, two of which are longer than the other two. Examples of rectangles include: a book, a door, a window.

Polygons

: A shape with three or more straight sides and angles. Examples of polygons include: hexagon, pentagon, octagon.

Ellipse

: A shape that looks like a squashed circle, where the distance from the center to any point on the edge is different than the distance from the center to the other points on the edge. Examples of ellipse include: a football, an egg, a planet.

Stars

: A shape with many points arranged in a symmetrical pattern. Examples of stars include: a starfish, a star in the sky, a star on a flag.

All these shapes can be described by their properties and can be used to create different objects and designs in art, architecture, and engineering.
