Subtraction of Numbers

Subtraction is the opposite of addition. It's like taking away a certain number of things.
For example, let's say you have 5 apples and then someone takes away 2 of them. How many apples do you have left?
We can figure this out by subtracting 2 from 5. So 5 - 2 = 3. You have 3 apples left.
Another example, let's say you want to know how many toys you have left after you give some away. You started with 10 toys, and you give away 4. So you can figure out how many toys you have left by doing 10 - 4 = 6.
So when you subtract, you start with the bigger number and take away the smaller number.
